One Version of Dee Snider's "We're Not Gonna Take It"

This was brought to my attention by a friend.
My teenage years were made more bearable, thanks to the likes of Twisted Sister, and this is quite powerful.
Oh... watch with tissues by the keyboard as this comes with someone dicing onions nearby...

Music, Please! -> 【MeseMoa.】Shadow Kiss【1st album】

Flurchhhhhhhhhhhh!
I don't give a fig if it's "fan service" or, basically, whatev'; they're really good, have a great sound, and a nice choreography. I'm glad I caught an article about them.
Enjoy!

Still Missing Him

After watching a series I really love tonight, I started changing channels, firmly convinced that I'd turn the telly off to go back to my computer. There was a channel showing episodes of The Mentalist; I found myself watching because I'll always associate the last episode of that series with the last time I was happy before He left for the island with no phones and no Wi-Fi.
It's been 568 days, and I'll keep counting until I start packing to go to the island myself...
Apart from the fact that I can still smile or cry thinking about Him, there's a Cole Porter song that makes me think of Him.
Here's a version of it with Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire:

If I Could Make a Wish...

... I'd like someone to find a way to have this on loop for all politicos (and excited, pointless thugs, as well) until they start using their three (collective?) brain cells to protect the future of our children.

PS: if I ever find out who was cutting all those onions whilst I was watching this...

Another Interesting Music Video

They were featuring in my last post, and they're back with yet another creative video. The singer's giving us something quite interesting, and I'm jealous of the pianist (to say the least!).
I give you SEKAI NO OWARI with 「SOS」:

Creative Japanese Music Videos

I've been watching some JPop Top 20, and I must admit that I hadn't been watching music videos recently.
I had a look at the MV styles in Europe and in the US, and I must say that I find Japanese MVs quite original.
Here are two examples to illustrate what I mean (and I needed some fluffy, non-growly things in my life, too).

Here goes:
和楽器バンド (Wagakki Band) with  「暁ノ糸」 (Akatsukino Ito)

and:
SEKAI NO OWARI with 「ANTI-HERO」

Music, Please!

In 1972, Mike Brant was singing Qui saura on French telly...

Music, Please!

And here's Dance Me to the End of Love, the music video that introduced me to Leonard Cohen (my family seemed to have skipped a good part of the '60s & '70s, music-wise; I caught up at the speed of light).

Music, Please! {Earth, Wind & Fire - September}

I am completely going to blame this on the conclusion of The Mentalist (by the way, give the writers a jar of cookies! "Slutty elf" / "It's the sylvan theme" <- *mwaha!!!*).
If I ever finally get married, that is soooo my song (& it's my song coz I wouldn't tie myself to someone who wouldn't dance to this - even if that someone looks like a live hamster on a blazing barbecue when dancing).

Enjoy!

I strangely feel the urge to watch Empire Records again. I wonder why... ^_~

Music, Please!

Rather recently, I discovered (late to the party again, I know) 妻は、くノ一 (Tsuma wa, kunoichi / My Wife, a Ninja).
I'm honestly wondering why that mini-series hasn't been bought by TV channels out of Japan. It's absolutely lovely (note to self: buy the books!).

Incidentally, the song used when the end credits roll is an efficient and good ear worm.
It's been stuck in my head for quite a few days, it took me a bit of time to locate a video with the singer (山崎まさよし / Yamazaki Masayoshi), so I'm sharing アルタイルの涙 (Altair no Namida / Tears of Altair) with you.
Enjoy!

Down (Recent-ish) Memory Lane & Plot Bunnies

As I was saying in the prior post, I've been exploring video sites most of last night.
I grew up with music, and I got addicted to video music telly in a split second (I'm still somehow mourning MTV).

Amongst the many, many happy memories that I got to revisit last night, there was one that made me very happy, and that even if it did beam into my flat a huge cargo of potential plot bunnies for my Muff&Sherly - The Annotated Edition...

Here's the "guilty" song:

Army of Lovers - Crucified

I could make a list of the plot bunnies, but they'd be massive spoilers.
I'd forgotten how much I love this song (and this video). Has anyone seen the drool bucket?

I'm still writing the short story I mentioned recently-ish, and I'm still working on my fantasy novel, as well.
I must say this is feeding the plot bunnies nicely, and I'm eager to go back to Muff&Sherly's world once the short story's finished...

Being Borderline OCD...

... can work nicely when I look for something.
Since I just have one toe on the "other side", it's not too bad, and that form of weird stubbornness has just allowed me to locate two songs that I'd lost.
Of course, I had to find a website that had a list of all the songs that ended up in the charts in the '90s and '00s (coz, of course, I couldn't remember in which decade they'd been released), and then, I went hunting for the two songs...
It took me hours, but after looking for these for months (probably years), I've got them bookmarked!

Whilst I was looking for these two, I got to listen again to a few songs that I'd forgotten; that was nice.

The songs that momentarily drove me nuts are:

Spooks - Things I've Seen

Truth Hurts - Addictive (finding a video that wasn't blocked outside of the US was a tad entertaining. Thanks chuck, guys!)

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaanyway... If I could manage to find these, that's giving me hope that, one day, I'll find again that novel that's driving me nuts.

Music, please!

Long time, no music...
My musical plot bunny's been keeping this in his paws for... years. It inspired a first story in a prior incarnation, and now... it's coming back in my Doncaster story.
Listen and melt.....................

[Music] Waltz, for Mary & John by Sherlock Holmes

Hello, and Happy New Year, my sweet (mostly silent!) readers!
First, I'm recovering from a stay out of town, and I'm planning a lil' something for the new year (in the continental tradition... so I've got until January 31st to cook that).
Then... I've been happily feeding my Sherlock addiction.

I'm (extremely slowly and clumsily) learning to play scratch the violin (all that because Mother wanted to buy a wheelbarrow, but that's another story), and I must say that Sherlock is kindly providing me with things to fight with learn to play.

On Sunday night, we got a glimpse of the score of the waltz Sherlock wrote:

I went looking for a complete score of it, hoping that good musicians fans of the series would upload one somewhere.
I've found a few now, but a few notes in what I found where bothering me (that's the compulsive palaeographer in me speaking: I kept looking at the screencap I'd made!). Being stubborn (and a tad OCD), I did this:

As usual, if you spot something wrong or... something... whatever... TELL ME! I swear that I won't bite.

Musical Plot Bunny

In that other literary life that's behind me now, my first big, serious plot bunny was full of music. It's completely mad, because it was a Frasier OST that inspired me to write my first big fanfic (the plot bunny was hugging in his paws several songs that were, I still remember very clearly how it all started, the spark that encouraged me to start writing again).
I grew up with music, and I love music.
A few hours ago, something odd happened as I listened to a piece of music that I've always had in my life (and now, I've got the MP3 on my tiny player). Suddenly, I saw a dancing couple, back when the musical piece was created.
I don't know who they are - yet.
I don't know their story/stories/adventures/whatever, but I've got a baby bunny on my lap, and over the next weeks (months?), he's going to take shape and tell me his tale.

Here's the bunny soundtrack:

Music, Please!

First, I was in the mood for a dose of music, so you get to have links... and then, I'm going to try presenting things differently: up to now, I was only encoding the links, but I'll try another display...

Here we go...

Let's start with Morcheeba: Rome Wasn't Built in a Day,

then a bit of Queen with Somebody to Love,

a spot of Gackt in Arittake no ai de 「ありったけの愛で」,

the astounding Bourvil sings Le petit bal perdu,

and to conclude, let's have the lovely Gloria Estefan with Mi tierra

Music, please!

This page used to host the exclusive video from this site: http://www.out.com/entertainment/music/2012/04/20/out-exclusive-adam-cohen-live-our-studio, but it disappeared, so I'm turning to the official video:

Music, please!

Here's a classical music post...

A spot of Mozart perhaps? Let’s listen to the Requiem.

And some Vivaldi with Spring.

For good measure, a hint of Niccolo Paganini with Violin Concerto n°5.

A dose of Ottorino Respighi: Pines of Rome. I chose this version because whales are brilliant! :)

And some Beethoven to conclude with Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat major, Op. 73.
