My (Possible) Next New Hobby

I'm far from being bored, as I'm still in touch with my students by e-mail (which takes even more time than "just" being in class), I've got some spring cleaning and DIY stuff to do in my flat, and I've got an invasion of plot bunnies at home (yes - even more than usual!). I've got a dress to hem and a new portrait to start, too.

I'm busy and unbored.

And yet, something new-ish is making its way into my head. In fact, there are two things I'd like: I'd like to try pottery again (the last time, I was in primary school, but I loved it - in spite of the bullying teacher who didn't allow us to create what we really wanted; she expected obedient sheeple), but, alas, I have no access to a kiln, so I'll have to store that idea for the moment and... I'd like to try sculpture.
We have sculptors in the family (artists and monumental masons) and I'd really like to try.

I could order stuff online, but I don't want to burden my post officer with trifles, so I'll go shopping when we're allowed to go back to arts stores.
Maybe I won't like it.
Maybe I'll be rubbish at it.
I'll give it a try, for fun - and because I'm curious to see if there might be some marble in my DNA...
Good or bad, I'll keep you posted.

My friend makes stuff in Fimo, easy cheap and simple, worth a try, I would love to try pottery but I am busy with gardening, knitting, sewing (finished two things yesterday! yey go me) and generally tidying and finding things I planned to do (Japanese sashiko kits turned up when tidying my desk) I also have a massive fabric stash to make clothes out of when I had time, which seems to be more available at the moment, mow I need to get the patterns I bought together with the fabric and then find my sewing machine and a space to put it up! okay I am a hoarder, but it is finally useful, once tidied! have fun and get some clay or fimo anyway!

Hey, there!
Sorry to be slow to answer you (Blogger had stopped telling me about comments *grr*).

I tried a lil' thing (guess what...? Yep, I made a bunny!) in terracotta and it was fun. I may explore this at one point.
Fimo sounds like an interesting option, too. I *can't* wait for my arts supply store to be open again!!!

Ah, so you're a material "squirrel", too. I have a few remnants waiting for me (there's a "remnant" store that sells three metres for five euros - I love them). I hope you'll find a cool and quiet spot for your machine. Have fuuuuuuun! ^_^
